How To Play
You can start your trail any time after receiving your welcome email and instructions. There’s no expiry date – play on the day you buy or anytime in the future.

You can begin whenever it suits you, but make sure it’s within the recommended time window listed in your trail instructions. This ensures all clue locations are open. Start early enough to allow for breaks and clue-solving time.
Nope – this is your adventure! You’ll solve clues and explore the city independently, with just your team.
After purchasing, you’ll receive an email with your login details, instructions, and the trail’s start location. On the day, head to the start point, log in, hit ‘GET STARTED’, and your first clue will appear.
Instant! As long as you have a solid internet connection, you’ll receive your next clue right away after submitting an answer.
We’ve got you covered with three help options:
- HELP: Guides you to the correct location
- HINT: Offers a nudge to solve the clue
- SKIP: If a clue’s location is unexpectedly inaccessible (road closures, events, etc.), you can use ‘Skip’ as your answer and move on
No, only one device can be used at a time. Logging in on a second device will log out the first. You can switch devices if needed (like if your battery runs out), but only one can be active at once (see SMARTPHONE/DEVICE section of FAQs).
Absolutely! After submitting a correct answer, the clock pauses until you hit ‘NEXT CLUE’. Take breaks for food, photos, or just a rest – no penalty.
No worries – a time penalty will be added to your final score. Here’s what happens depending on the action you take:
- Correct answer:
You’ll see “Congratulations! You have completed this Clue.” Click Next Clue to continue. 🕒 No time penalty. - Incorrect answer:
You’ll see “Incorrect! Please try again.” 🕒 10-minute penalty. - You’ve got 3 lifelines:
- HELP button – Gives you a nudge toward the correct location. 🕒 5-minute penalty.
- HINT button – an extra hint to help you solve the clue. 🕒 5-minute penalty.
- SKIP – Sometimes things are out of your control (road closures, events, etc.). Type ‘Skip’ as your answer to continue your journey. 🕒 No penalty.
- Selecting ‘Next Clue’:
Advances you to the next challenge and restarts the clock. 🕒 No penalty.
No time limits! Take the whole day or break it up over multiple days. Just don’t press ‘NEXT CLUE’ until you’re ready to continue. Your progress is saved and the clock stops until you select ‘NEXT CLUE’.
Most teams complete a trail in 2–3 hours, depending on how fast you walk and how quickly you solve the clues. Hot day? No stress – you can pause anytime and take your time.

Absolutely! If your smartphone or device can connect to the internet, you’re good to go. No apps, no downloads, no fuss.

No drama – try to make sure you’ve got a full charge before heading off. If your battery runs out, answer the current questions, do not select ‘NEXT CLUE’, log out, and another team member can log in on their device with the same username and password. Just remember only one device can be logged in at a time!
Nope! Wi-Fi isn’t required, but your device does need internet access. Some cities may offer public Wi-Fi, but it’s not guaranteed (or always free).
Travelling from overseas? Double-check your mobile provider’s data roaming fees before starting – solving clues and using maps can chew through data. We can’t cover your phone bill!

Just check out the trail descriptions for the city you’re in (or heading to) and go with the one that excites you most. Love it? You can always come back for more and try another trail in the same or a different city!

Totally! In fact, our trails are perfect for visitors who want to experience a city in a new and interactive way. Just bring a sense of adventure and a fully charged device – we’ll do the rest.
You can still enjoy the experience, but it will depend on your level of English! Some clues are cryptic or word-based, so it may be a little trickier, but with teamwork and Google on your side, many teams still have a blast.
We aim to be accessible; however, not all our trails currently are. Accessibility for each trail has been noted in the ‘Duration’ section when you select a trail to purchase.
Health & Safety
You’ll need a fully charged smartphone or device to access the clues via our website. Dress for the weather (layers, comfy shoes, and sun protection are always smart), and while you’ll likely pass by shops and cafés, we recommend bringing a bottle of water just in case.

We’ve designed our trails to pass by public toilets and plenty of refreshment spots. While you’re never far from a coffee or a snack, it’s still a good idea to plan ahead – especially with little ones in tow.
Yes — safety first! You’ll be exploring a city on foot, so be aware of your surroundings, cross roads safely, and stick to footpaths. We’ve planned the trails to avoid risky areas but stay alert and don’t stray too far from the route.
Absolutely! An adult must purchase the trail, but children are welcome to join. Just keep in mind that the experience includes 2–3 hours of walking, so plan for breaks and snacks. And remember – you can pause and finish the trail another day if needed (see ‘Ordering a Trail’ in our FAQs).
